How do those little amps sound with high sensitivity speakers? Also, what are you using for a DC power supply for the amps? I’m assuming they need the full 24VDC to make 100 watts...

Maybe use something like this? It’s only 12VDC though

I was actually really impressed. It's a Chinese copy of a Tripath chip. AFAIK Tripath is bankrupt and the designs are generic now.The amp board is straight from Tripath's evaluation board. Seems like about one in ten has issues, usually cold solder joints.

I own ME Electronics. We refurbish off lease computers- pays better than audio these days. I get tons of heavy-ish external DC power supplies. Most go to recycle. I have to cut off the plug usually and figure out which wires are correct. If you think you can do that I likely have something for cost of postage.

They sound better than some I've paid ten times more for. The Chinese are good at what they do, which is makes tons of something cheap.

Personally I think they are better than the Lepai stuff, which are also Tripath chips I think. These are a bit more DIY though.
If you click on "see feedback" next to "136 sold" there are 15 positive reviews with no negatives.

Yes one of your extra PS would probably work well for me. I don?t mind the DIY aspect. I?ll contact you via PM. Thanks, I appreciate it.

IIRC I had used an Audiovox PS-3 for some of the L'pais. 12v 3a regulated. They pop up now and again.

If you want an easy way to test the effect of increased/decreased voltage, something like the Xantrex/Sorensen XT 30-2 has big fun numbers and knobs and is fan-less.
However my 2 of them physically hum, don't know if that's a flaw or they all do that. Their numbering is representative, e.g. up to 30v @ up to 2a for the model above.
With one, you could probably run several (or scores?) of chip amps? I was running 2x stereo 60wpc rackmount (not chip) amps that had worse power supply noise issues, and they didn't break a sweat per the amperage readout. ...that was with multiple relatively HE Altec's and not at concert levels though.

I?ve been bugging this guy for pics of the horns he has to go with the cabinets. He finally emails me a pic today. Green 811 horns/802D drivers with a pair of JBL 150-4c woofers. All very very clean looking. Obviously not all for 200$. I don?t even want to know what he wants for the drivers, but I?ll have to ask. Probably more than I?m willing to pay.

True. It would be an odd setup. I’m wondering if the woofers he has even came out of these cabs. He said in the ad they had an Altec setup before
